Splash Page Contest

It is that time again:) We are choosing an image for the Splash Page on my site (the first page you see). The contest will start today and last through Friday @ 3:00. You can vote once per ip address, but please feel free to ask for help from friends and family. You can also post the link on your facebook or blog to get a few more votes:) The winner will win a free standard booking fee for themselves and one for a friend, and their image will be featured on my site. I love all of my sessions, but for the contest, I try to pick images that will work well on the front page and also really represent my work. Evening Sessions! Fancy Pants Photography

Since my business has started, I have never offered sessions in the evenings unless it was a senior session....BUT, for the holiday rush only (September and October) I will be offering Tuesday evening sessions. These sessions can be children only or family sessions and will start around 6:30 (this will be adjusted as days start getting shorter) and last until we lose the light:) Booking fees for these sessions are $350 and they are very limited so if you want one...get on the books now. I really love the evening light right now and it is great for family shots or the perfect Christmas card image!

Christmas Card Designs 2011: Fancy Pants Photography

This is my favorite time of year. I love creating and getting cards...so fun! I am excited to roll out our 2011 Christmas card designs. As always, these are first come, first served. Once a design in gone, it is gone...so if you love it, reserve it now. Card text can be modified as can the number of images on many of the designs. Most designs feature one image, but if there is room on the card, we can certainly customize it to use more images. Some of the cards will also allow for color change. You will see that this year we are also offering some of the designs in specialty shapes:) Every year we book up for Christmas and have to turn people away, so we want to make sure to get an early start this year. *Here is why you want to start early...* If you book your session for September, you will have an additional option this year. Not quite a mini session, but kinda:). These sessions will be an all inclusive price! The sessions will be 45 minutes, and will include 15-20 fully edited files for $1000. These sessions must be booked and completed in September and there will be limited availability. When you book, just mention that you want the all inclusive, and we will go over the details and get you set up.
Already had your session with Fancy Pants? No problem, call us to reserve your design for $50 that will apply to your card order and we will get your proof ready to go. To view our 2011 designs, go to Fancy Pants (fancypantsphotography.com) and click on the galleries tab. You will find the Christmas 2011 gallery, and all of the designs. Knowing your design also helps with clothing choices for your session. I cannot wait to see all the little cuties!

The Details
Flat 5x7 or 5x5 cards printed on linen or watercolor paper are 2.85/each, folded 5x7 or 5x5 cards printed on linen or watercolor are 3.45/each. Specialty shape cards are $3.25 each. Cards can also be printed on pearl paper for .10 extra per card. All cards come with white or parchment envelopes. There is a minimum order of 50 cards. Please keep in mind that square and circle cards require additional postage. Each design will be sold only once, so reserve your card when you book your session. If you have already had your session and would like to use those images for your card, you can reserve your card for $50 that will go toward your card order. If one of our designs doesn't work and you would like us to create a card just for you, there is an additional design fee. All new sessions must meet the minimum print requirement before cards can be purchased.

This was so tough this time. I have so many sessions that I love. I decided to randomly pick two sessions from each month and pick one of my favorite images. As always, I love all of these images and feel like they represent my work, so I will be pleased with the winner no matter what:)

My own kids are usually the hardest for me to photograph. Part of that is me. I have all the patience in the world with my clients, and not so much with my own kiddos... 'cause they KNOW how to do this! I have been in their face with a camera since birth, but yet. I asked my little guy today if he wanted to do some pictures..."With my airplane?!?" (he thinks all my props are his toys:-|) "Sure!" I rarely get him to take pictures willingly:) He actually did a great job today and it wasn't like pulling teeth:))))) I love those times! He only gave me about 15 minutes, but we made it work...

I originally offered this to my facebook fans and mailing list only, but I have a few spots left, so I am opening it up on a first come first served basis. These sessions are THIS Saturday.

What to expect: These shots will all be in studio with a white background. You can choose to go with white clothing or choose bright and fun colors. No clothing changes...we just won't have time. Kiddos only on this one, and they must be sitting up. These are fast paced, and you know your kiddos...group shots are sometimes tough with really little ones even in full sessions, so although we may get it in 15 minutes...don't make that your priority:) We will great shots, they just might be individuals... Keep in mind that these are not full sessions, so they won't have various backgrounds, props, etc., but if you just want a cute update images of your little one...this is perfect! Finally, please be on time. These are very limited and will be back to back, so try not to arrive early or late.
With this mini session, you will be able to choose different poses to complete your package, and additional prints can be purchased at the normal pricing. For the past four years, many of you have come to the Holiday Collectibles event to visit me and pick up "Double your Money" gift certificates. This year, I will not be at the event, but I wanted to continue the gift certificates for those that like to take advantage of them. From now through Friday, October 29th, you can buy a gift certificate and I will double the amount up to a $100 certificate. The certificates can be used anytime in 2011! As a bonus, I always do a 20% off gallery canvas promo for January, February and March sessions. If you book your beginning of the year session (Jan-March) when you buy your certificate, you will also get a mini wallet book. These are super cute and are not available for purchase. They are hard cover and feature 12 images from your session...they are great for putting in your purse to show off your little ones. They are really beautiful! The canvas special is always popular with those who are building their canvas walls, so make sure to book early to get the best dates.

Yikes, I keep meaning to come on here and post some images, but time just gets away from me. This is going to be a bit of a random post, but I feel like I need to play catch up:) I have been editing like crazy and seeing all these families makes me realize how badly I need to document my own. I know we don't always feel like we look great, and we are our harshest critics...but someday, our kids will look back and we want them to be able to see how much we loved them. They are not going to care how we looked...(I am preaching to myself here because I don't have a single picture of my kids and I on my wall...but I am going to!)
Things are hectic here as I am sure they are everywhere with school back in and sports and holidays approaching....don't forget that IF you are hoping to get in for Christmas images, time is running out. I have VERY few spots left.
As I read back over this, I clearly have issues with run on sentences and random punctuation, but I am going to let it go for the sake of getting this post online:) More to come, I promise....and kudos to these beautiful ladies who both look great AND got in the pictures:) I also had to put one of a gorgeous newborn...what is a blog post without a baby?!?

I got to have these two back a few weeks ago. They are both dolls and I was inspired by this little cooperative two year old, to try a few with mine. Let's just say that there is a difference between 2 year old boys and 2 year old girls...or maybe there is just a difference between MY two year old boy and this two year old girl because she did everything I asked:) Love it.

I think for some reason...in my mind...kids freeze at the age I last photographed them. I was excited to see these two again, and totally shocked when they arrived as big kids:) I was all geared up to chase them around the yard and here they were following all of my directions! Mom reminded me that they were pretty little last time I photographed them and they did actually age since then:) They grew up gorgeous obviously...

So the kids are all back in school, well almost. Mostof the time our preschool follows the elementary school calendar, but not at the beginning of the year...or the end. SO my little man and I have a couple of weeks together before he starts. Lately, I have had some two year olds that were soooo easy, that I thought I should really try with mine. To be fair...he really did cooperate for a few minutes. He doesn't like to actually make eye contact when I have a camera (which is a problem) and he has also learned to say "cheese" somewhere. Parents...please don't teach your kiddos to say "cheese"...(it doesn't produce anything close to a real smile:)) Anyway, here is what we got....we were trying to bring in a couple of ideas we got from the Crewcuts catalog (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE and would buy every single item from if money were no object). I always say that I love when they come back, and I do. I think Miss M was about 4 the first time we met. Now she goes to school with my son, and has grown into a confident little girl with lots of ideas (both in general and for our shoot:)) I love seeing the kiddos growing up and I love being in this community where I see so many of my clients all the time...at the ball parks, school, and the grocery store. The other day as I was pushing my cart out of the store, something fell off the bottom and a sweet little girl immediately grabbed it for me, when I looked down to say thank you, it was little Miss M. Is she not a cute little bug...so tiny:) Loved her, and mom was great. She was up for anything. As we got to talking, I found out that mom is a pediatrician and just joined a local practice. I know that so many of us look for great pediatricians who understand us. She has a great personality and can see things from a mom's point of view. I am SO excited to roll out our 2010 Christmas Card designs. As always, these are first come, first served. Once a design in gone, it is gone...so if you love it, reserve it now. Card text can be modified as can the number of images on many of the designs. Most designs feature one image, but if there is room on the card, we can certainly customize it to use more images.

Every year we book up for Christmas and have to turn people away, so we want to make sure to get an early start this year.
*Here is why you want to start early...*
If you book your session for August or September, you will get one free pack of Christmas cards...(that's a $68.75 value). These sessions must be booked and completed in August of September and there will be limited availability. When you book, just mention this offer and let us know which card design you would like to reserve.

Already had your session with Fancy Pants? No problem, call us to reserve your design for $50 that will apply to your card order and we will get your proof ready to go.

To view our 2010 designs, go to Fancy Pants and click on the galleries tab. You will find the Christmas 2010 gallery, and all of the designs. Knowing your design also helps with clothing choices for your session. I cannot wait to see all the little cuties!

The Details

Flat 5x7 or 5x5 cards printed on linen or watercolor paper are 2.75/each, folded 5x7 or 5x5 cards printed on linen or watercolor are 3.25/each. Cards can also be printed on pearl paper for .10 extra per card. All cards come with white or parchment envelopes. There is a minimum order of 50 cards. Please keep in mind that square cards require additional postage. Each design will be sold only once, so reserve your card when you book your session. If you have already had your session and would like to use those images for your card, you can reserve your card for $50 that will go toward your card order. If one of our designs doesn't work and you would like us to create a card just for you, there is an additional design fee. All new sessions must meet the minimum print requirement before cards can be purchased.

I have been photographing these two since they were days old. It is amazing how quickly time flies and how quickly they change into little people. They both did a great job, and it was nice to see them and how much they have grown. In typical two year old fashion, we had to pull out just a little bribery. "Will Work for Trucks:)"

20 Years....

Well, I went back to my hometown this weekend for my 20 year reunion. Nothing will smack you in the face more than realizing you have been out of school more years than you had even lived when you were there, but such is life. It was great seeing so many old friends and laughing harder than I had in awhile. I had the opportunity to photograph the children of some wonderful friends while I was there, so I wanted to give them a quick sneak peek:).

We have lived in Austin for about five years now, and we have had the honor of becoming friends with so many wonderful people. After moving to Texas, I don't know that I could live anywhere else. The people here are the kind of people that welcome you into their lives with open arms and make you feel like you have always been there. My kids have met wonderful friends as well...friends I know they will have for years and years. New York will soon be getting one of the families we have been so fortunate to know, and it will be a better place for having welcomed them. I know they will do great and make new friends and their lives will be happy and blessed. We will miss you, but hope only the very best for you...

I got the chance to do a session with them just this morning, but I wanted to post just a few. Love you guys and so do our kids:)

I love it, and if you have seen my work, you know that is what I am drawn to when I shoot. Don't get me wrong, when I get a little giggly one who really smiles all the time, I love that too. Most kiddos this age have been trained for so long to say, "cheese" that we just aren't getting the real ones:) My two year old is even saying it now, and I assure you, those words have never come out of my mouth. I like to see a child just look at me. To me, it is the most beautiful and honest image I can get. Loved these two...can't get much cuter than this.
