My Toughest Client [ Austin Child Photographer ]

I am not exaggerating when I say this...this child could not sit still for more than 3 seconds. He climbed on all the furniture, tried to pull down my lights (more than once), tore my paper, knocked over my fabric stand, and tried to take a nose dive off a chair. He was a total maniac...but he is mine, so I will forgive him:) Just a few of my little man who is growing way too fast.

Time slips by so fast. I cannot believe that my little guy is already one. It seems like yesterday. This little guy has added so much to our lives, and we are forever grateful for this blessing. Just a few shots from his birthday:)

Ok, as most of you know...I am a sucker for the serious shots. I love the intense expressions, the focus on the eyes...I love it all. BUT...when the expressions are real (no cheese please) and the personality comes through, I love it. This little guy could not do serious and I am glad:)

Because I really think I need another one. Really. Could you not just eat her up? I love mom...she has been with me since her maternity images with her first, and now we are on baby two and she really let me do whatever I wanted. I LOVE that. So of course, I couldn't wait to open the session and take a peek:) Thank you for trusting me with your perfect angel....and for anyone who is scared about this, the baby was just 2 or 3 inches above the bean bag and surrounded by 3 protective adults:)

Model Search

Fancy Pants is participating in a National Model Search. It benefits a cause that is very close to me. I have known about this organization for a while, and was waiting for the right time to be part of it. This is the time. As many of you may know, our 3rd child, Lachlan, was born at 25 1/2 weeks. We had him for 11 hours and 14 minutes. That day was such a gift! I realized when we came home, how important it was to have reminders that he was here. Even though his stay was brief, he changed our lives...he was important. The charity that is sponsoring the Model Search works to capture those few minutes or hours that families have with babies in this situation and preserve them forever. A network of photographers volunteer to come into the hospital and photograph babies and their families, when they will not leave the hospital. I know from experience how important this cause is. I was worried that I wouldn't be strong enough to be one of these photographers, but I know that I am. As I was signing up, I realized that we could also help by photographing little cuties for a model search! Perfect...I have lots of cute clients! So here is the deal. It is one day only. February 24th. Mark your calendars! Sessions are $25 and last for 10 minutes. You can expect 2-5 images to choose from for your order and I pick one to enter in the contest. I am offering a package with this deal. Since there will only be 2-5 proofs, I am not requiring the $300 minimum print purchase. Instead, I am offering 1 8x10, 1 5x7, and a set of wallets all the same pose for $70. After the initial package, if you want additional prints, you will be able to order ala carte. Family members and friends will be able to vote, so it is all up to you. Votes are $1 each with money going to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Models must be between 18 months and 14 years old. Call to set up your Model session soon, there are a very limited number of spots.

In honor of Valentines next month, and because it is the month that my little sweetie turns ONE (can you believe how quickly the time has passed????!!!!), I am offering a "Spread the Love" promotion. On. My. Goodness.

I am a softy, but this baby makes me want to have more....If for no other reason than to try this with my own. This little guy did everything we wanted him to do. And look at him...are you kidding me? Such a cutie. Mom and Dad were so brave, and let me do whatever I wanted (:))!!!

So, for my quick public service announcement. I know it is hard, but photographing babies in the first two weeks, preferably even the first week, is the best time to take images. They are putty in our hands, and that doesn't last long:) Speaking from someone who has a wonderful, but somewhat opinionated 9 year old, headstrong 7 year old, and a 10 month old that thinks he is in charge (he is...who am I kidding)...let's take advantage of the two weeks where we call the shots:)

Clothing Ideas

I know that photo sessions can be stressful, but let's try to take a little bit of the stress away. Although I like simple, layers and texture can really make the image. Clothing plays a big role...
I like kids to coordinate but not "match" perfectly. A photographer friend of mine put these together and they are totally my style. Here are some examples of great outfits from Gap. You don't need to copy these types of outfits exactly, but you get the idea. I hope these are helpful and make life a tiny bit less stressful:)
